This castle has been the home of the Digby Family since 1617. Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. Prince William of Orange was entertained here in 1688 and George III visited in 1789. There are magnificent collections of art, furniture and porcelain on view. During your visit you can see: a Tudor Kitchen, The Library, The Red Drawing-Room, The Orangery. The castle gardens were designed by 'Capability Brown' which extend over 20 acres around a 50 acre lake. Also there is a lake-side tearoom with self-service light lunches and delicious teas.

Pre-booked parties can be accommodated. Attractively stocked visitors gift shop.

Visitors can purchase the Castle's own fine English wine produced at the Sherborne Castle Estate vineyard. Buy by the bottle or case from the shop.
