Abbotsbury Swannery offers a unique experience to visitors. This is the only place where you can walk through a colony of nesting Mute Swans.
Visitors going to the sanctuary from mid-May to the end of June may see fluffy cygnets hatching. Feeding sessions are held from noon until 16:00 each day.
The swannery's origins dates back to around 1040 where the monks actually farmed the swans as food for lavish banquets.
